Born in Cuttack, Orissa, India, educated both at Cuttack and Calcutta, Netaji Subhas came to Cambridge for postgraduate studies, and to compete in the Indian Civil Service examination. He passed the exam with merit but resigned the post in 1921 and joined the Indian National Congress under the leadership of Mahatma Gandhi for India's independence from the British rule. As he already gained the Cambridge Tripos in Mental and Moral Sciences, he took teaching and journalism as his career in India. This work studies in great detail the evolution of his character from 1897, the year of his birth, to 1921, the year he joined the Indian struggle for independence. It consists of five chapters like five acts of a play based on a close look at Subhas's autobiography "An Indian Pilgrim". Finally, it tells you about how he constructed his philosophy of life by combining the ideas both from the East and West.
