We present a collection of articles that connect two great world revolutionary movements, the Russian Revolution and the Indian anti-colonial struggle. The articles are not meant to be academic publications and should not be read as such. Rather, they are refl ections of the thinking and practice of the leadership of the Communist Party of India, how it was infl uenced by the ideas of the Russian Revolution and at the same time, had to adapt to local conditions in its struggle against British rule in India. In many of the articles, we have added boxes highlighting one particular concept or fi gure mentioned.
