Herein are 28 papers which were part of the deliberations of the International Conference on the 'Mahabharata Manthan: A Critical Revisit to the Tangible and Intangible Heritage', held in July 2017 at New Delhi. The Mahabharata has always been the center of 'critical' analysis and comments for many reasons. A major work called the 'Critical Edition of the Mahabharata' was published by the Bhandarkar Oriental Research Institute (BORI) and released in 1966 by the then president of India, Dr. Radhakrishnan. Besides that, scholars have continued to write subjective commentaries on this 'itihas' of the 'Dwapar' era which have been published. In the seminar on 'Mahabharata Manthan' that we conducted, the BORI edition was also deliberated upon 'critically' amongst several scholars and the general intelligentsia. The papers published in this book reflect the themes of the conference, which mainly focused on the aspects of the Epic's Historiography and Historicity and Critical Analysis of the Critical Edition of BORI, and also included significant matters of Geographical dimensions, archaeology, astronomical dating, intangible heritage and traditions, and socio-culture and philosophical perspectives. These papers reflect the multiple dimensions about the Mahabharata and also places its importance in the historical and geographical contexItem type | Current library | Call number | Vol info | Status | Date due | Barcode |
