Expressions is a collection of modern English prose passages meant to be used as a textbook for teaching English at the undergraduate level. As the emphasis in this collection is on familiarising the students with as many kinds of prose writings as possible, variety has been one of the guiding principles in making this selection. It contains samples of writings from different parts of the world. There are examples of narration, description and exposition. The passages include fiction, autobiographical sketches, historical and cultural studies, travelogue and humour. There are also passages on writing prose and preparing a talk.
