Stolen Years presents the life and struggles of controversial Sikh politician, Simranjit Singh Mann. In 1984, Simranjit resigned from the Indian Police Service in protest of Operation Blue Star. He was charged with conspiracy to assassinate the then Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi. Simranjit Singh went in hiding and was nabbed by the police while trying to flee the country. He was imprisoned for five years, after which all charges were dropped. Thirty years since Operation Blue Star, Simranjit’s daughter, Pavit Kaur looks back on the years of her father’s hellish journey in jail. Stolen Years is a moving and personal account of a family during one of the most distraught and chaotic times in history of modern India.
