Bose, S.K.

Studies in commonwealth literature - New Delhi Alfa 2009 - 315p.

The book traces some of the concomitants of change from a ruling orthodoxy of British literature to at least the beginnings of a ruling orthodoxy of Commonwealth or postcolonial literature(s), and expresses some skepticism about the concealed assumptions of both studies. If much of the earlier critical analysis and promotion of Commonwealth literature took the form of a "writing against" British literature or a counter discourse to it, this article might be considered as something of a "writing against the 'writing against' or a counter discourse.
The book is not just another study of Commonwealth writers in English. It approaches the subject from a refreshingly new angle and in its more fundamental aspects. It is an inspiring idealistic framework for a study of Commonwealth literature.
